Setting up a Hot Dog Bar is the perfect solution for your next grill event. Hot dogs are easy to prepare, delicious with your favorite toppings, and are great for feeding a crowd.
FUN FACT: According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Americans indulge in average 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day. You read that right. Billion, with a "B".
Don't let your franks look naked. Prepare some tasty side toppings and put them in trays for everyone to assemble their perfect hot dogs. You can get as creative as you like. Below are some suggestions!
You can make all of your condiments, with the exception of the tomato, and guacamole the night before you want to use them. They keep in the refrigerator perfectly fine. Tip: It is best to use ripe, but still firm vegetables, so they can be diced small without that they turning into mush!
Condiments:
- Ketchup
- Yellow Mustard
- Coarse grainy Mustard
- Sour Cream
- Mayonnaise (see variations below)
- Relish
- sliced Cornichon Pickles
- pickled red Onion
- pickled Jalapeño Peppers
- chopped white Onions
- warmed Sauerkraut
- warmed Chili Beans
- Guacamole
- shredded Cheddar
- chopped Tomato
- fresh Lettuce
Spice up your Mayonnaise with a little sriracha, or blend smokey chipotle peppers with a squirt of fresh lime juice and Mexican Crema (a light and thin sour cream, available in most American supermarkets).
Grill your beef franks on a BBQ. Grilling them will take approximately 5-7 minutes, although jumbo franks will take 10-12 minutes.
TIP: Try wrapping a slice of Bacon around the beef franks, secure the end with a tooth pic, then grill until all sides are crispy. Super Yum!
Place your perfectly grilled beef frank into a hot steamed bun, add you favorite toppings, and it's time to dig in 🙂
Happy long weekend everyone!
xx, Diana
