You will love this classic Cuban Mojito! Fresh mint is muddled with fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and rum. Ice and club soda is added to make a tall drink. The taste is slightly tart ( but not sour), with a delicious minty, lime-y tang and just a little much from the rum. It is the perfect refreshing summer cocktail!
Unlike many cocktails, the Mojito maintains a perfect balance of sweet and sour, ensuring that each ingredient plays its part without overpowering the others. As a result, every sip offers a delightful contrast of flavors that complement one another effortlessly. Whether you're launching by the poolside or enjoying a night out with friends, this drink adapts seamlessly to any occasion. Here is how to make it:
MOJITO INGREDIENTS:
The traditional Cuban Mojito is made with:
- Rum: White Rum ( I'm using Bacardi Rum)
- Lime juice: Please use only freshly squeezed. Not the bottled stuff. It makes all the difference!
- Fresh mint: Enough for muddling to release its natural oils, and for flavoring. Make sure to leave some extra for garnish.
- Sweetener: Traditionally simple syrup is used in mojito recipes. Simply bring equal parts of sugar and water to a simmer. Let cool. If you prefer another sweetener, you may substitute it with 1 to 2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup or agave syrup per glass.
- Ice: For serving.
- Club soda: Lastly, fill the glass with any sparking water.
