A warm savory fig tart with caramelized onions, bacon, stilton cheese and a good drizzle of honey. A perfect end of summer dinner. Enjoy with a salad and a glass of wine!
We are almost in fall (though I may still be in denial), and I'm not ready for super hearty meals just yet. We're still having 80 to 90 degree weather here in Southern California. But this savory fig onion tart with bacon and blue cheese crumbles is a great transitional meal.
This tart is super easy to make, and in less than 30 minutes you can have dinner. All you need is one sheet of puff pastry (you can find at the grocery store in the freezer isle). The sweet figs and caramelized onions work really well with this airy, flaky crust. As a final touch I sprinkled some bacon bits and crumbles of some Stilton cheese to bring out the sweetness of the onions and figs.
SERVING SUGGESTION
This tart pairs perfectly with a light salad like arugula, kale or spinach salad, and a beautiful glass of white or red wine.
It makes also a great appetizer for a party!
